The St Vincent de Paul food pantry at St. Francis de Sales Parish serves all residents of Lake County, Illinois who come to us for assistance. We serve them every Thursday evening from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.. Unlike many pantries, our clients are able to come to us every week.

We are a client choice pantry. That means our clients shop for their own food. It is not prepackaged for them. They can choose from meat, produce, bakery goods and packaged foods. On average our clients take home 40 to 50 pounds of food per family. We distribute 4,000 to 5,000 pounds of food every week.

All of the food we offer is either donated directly, purchased with donated funds or given to us by the US Department of Agriculture through their Emergency Food Program. Purchased food comes from the Northern Illinois Food Bank with which we are a member.

The food pantry is very dependent on donations. Without them we could not provide an average of 10 meals to each of the approximately 500 people who visit us weekly. There are times of the year such as Thanksgiving and Christmas when we are overwhelmed with donations. There are other times like August and September when our shelves are almost bare. If you are planning a food drive, please email  the pantry at pantry@svdplz.org so we can coordinate your drive with our inventory needs.
