Food Stuff

The food pantry is very dependent on food donations. Without them we could not support the families who visit us on Thursdays.

The majority of the food we offer is donated by individuals in the community or harvested from either local super markets or farmers by SVdPLZ volunteers.

We also use our membership in the Northern Illinois Food Bank to purchase food, using donated funds, from the Food Bank. For more about monetary donations please visit our Donations web page

Donating Food

Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at the St. Francis de Sales Ministry Center Monday - Friday and in the donations basket in the Church Gathering Space.

Current Food Needs

Many ask about the items needed most by the Food Pantry - currently those needs include:

  • Canned Meat (Tuna and Chicken)
  • Canned Fruit and Veggies
  • 1 LB. bags of Rice or Beans
  • Pasta and Pasta Sauce
  • Soups and Broth
  • Jelly

Food Drives

There are times of the year such as Thanksgiving and Christmas when we are overwhelmed with food donations. There are other times like August and September when our shelves are almost bare. If you are planning a food drive, please email the pantry at pantry@svdplz.org so together we can coordinate your drive with our food needs.
